After work and school all week I was exhausted, so Friday we just took it easy, and then Saturday we went to Oxford to see Alastair amongst other things(harry potter things). We caught the morning train and despite the rain headed to Oxford. We got there rode the bus into town and headed for the shopping area where Alastair could meet us. Once he found us we headed to Starbucks to get some coffee (seeing as we woke Alastair up) and sat and chatted for a bit. Then we headed out to see some of the colleges and other stuff that was a must-see. We saw the moving staircase and the spot where a HP scene was filmed and we saw the grounds of some of the other schools and chapels and it was so cool! Side note: All of this you would normally have to pay to see but because we know people we got in for free!!
After some sightseeing we had worked up quite an appetite for lunch, so Alastair took us to this pub, and this was not just any pub. We took back allies and side streets to get there and it was hands down the coolest place I've ever been! It was everything that you image an English pub to look like, low ceilings, stone brick walks, old dark, AMAZING! The food was equally as good too! So with our pub food and half pints of old rosie (a cider that was actually quite nice!) we sat and ate and talked for a long time. Then Alastairs' painfully English friend Tom came to join us, he was super nice and quite funny. After sitting there and chatting for a bit we left and made our way to some really cool gardens that are probably restricted to visitors but again, it pays to know people! Then the boys wanted to see the rugby/football matches that were on and seeing as it was raining and mine and callies feet where soaking wet, we agreed. We headed to another pub which was equally as charming and sat and watched a proper rugby match and then the football(soccer) match. The rain had stopped so we headed out again to another college and some beautiful gardens. Then it was time to part seeing has we had to get up early today to queue for Hamlet (Jude Law!!!!) tickets. But we are going to go back on Wednesday to go to formal dinner in the great hall from harry potter...nbd.
So I am going to leave you with that and save Jude Law's Hamlet for its own post entirely (which I feel it deserves).
But I will leave you with some pictures!!
Oxford, it was even beautiful in the rain!
And a little teaser for the next post!!
